Solana Mobile Grants Android Manufacturers Access to Its Software

Solana Mobile has granted access to its Solana Mobile Stack (SMS) software platform to third-party Android smartphone manufacturers. This integration will enable the addition of native Web3 features to any mobile device.

According to the press release, installing the toolkit does not disrupt Google Play services or affect device security certification. SMS supports MediaTek and Qualcomm processors.

The Solana Mobile Stack comprises three core components:

  1. Seed Vault. A cold storage key system integrated directly into the phone’s secure hardware chip. Transaction confirmations occur via fingerprint or facial recognition.
  2. Seeker Wallet. An integrated non-custodial wallet that allows users to store, purchase, and send digital assets, including stablecoins.
  3. dApp Store. Provides direct access to decentralized applications, enabling cryptocurrency trading and earning through staking.

Solana Mobile representatives emphasized that SMS integration offers smartphone manufacturers a new revenue stream. Companies can earn a percentage of transaction and staking fees within the ecosystem. To retain users and balance interests, the platform utilizes the SKR token.

Solana Mobile tested the stack on 200,000 Seeker smartphones. According to developers, the ecosystem boasts over 85,000 weekly active wallets, with transaction volumes exceeding $5 billion through the devices.

Back in January, the SKR launch and airdrop for Seeker owners took place.
