Bring on the orange. That’s roughly what Michael Saylor has said to kick off the Bitcoin-buying week. In a Sunday tweet, he said “even more orange”, before telling his 5.2 million followers late Monday US time that Strategy has bought another 1,665 BTC, bringing its stash to 847,666 BTC. Strategy also repurchased US$152 million (AU$216.8 million) of its STRC stock and now holds US$6.02 billion (AU$8.58 billion) in USD assets in addition to its Bitcoin.

Strategy’s Bitcoin holdings have been acquired at an average price of US$75,437 (AU$107,629) and are currently worth US$70.5 billion (AU$100.6 billion), as BTC trades at US$83,200 (AU$118,705) at the time of writing.
Other Bitcoin treasury companies have also been buying. Strive, the fifth-largest public Bitcoin holder, added 1,107 BTC to its coffers, bringing its total holdings to 27,462 BTC.
Meanwhile, the Ethereum treasury narrative is heating up too. Bitmine has bought another 17,362 ETH, bringing its total holdings to 6 million ETH. It’s now 98% of the way to its goal of holding 5% of the total ETH supply.
Bitmine chair Tom Lee called the accumulation a “tremendous achievement, accumulating this total in under 15 months”.
Lee said the crypto bull market is in its early stages and institutions are still largely sitting on the sidelines, but could soon rush in to buy.
In our view, institutions are still underweight crypto, and we expect them to be adding to their exposure in the final months of 2026.

US Spot ETFs Surge
While exchange-traded funds (ETFs) are the largest Bitcoin holders, public companies come in second. Strategy’s BTC stash alone exceeds the largest US spot Bitcoin ETF: BlackRock’s IBIT currently holds 799,878 BTC.
As of the time of writing, the US BTC funds have started the week in the red, with net outflows of US$12.9 million (AU$8.4 million), breaking a seven-week streak during which US$2.9 billion (AU$4.1 billion) flowed into the funds. Last week was the most successful for the ETFs since October 2025, with US$2.38 billion (AU$3.39 billion) in net inflows.
Some figures reflect the latest complete data available as of Friday, 25 September, as several issuers have yet to report their Monday figures, including iShares (IBIT) and Fidelity (FBTC), the largest issuers.
