CEO of Circle, Jeremy Allaire, has urged Anthropic to proceed with an IPO, despite concerns surrounding artificial intelligence safety. He believes that becoming a public company would compel Anthropic to enhance transparency and accountability.
Take the Leap, @Anthropic
There’s been a lot of debate about whether now is the right moment for Anthropic to complete its IPO. Markets are jittery, the calendar is crowded, the valuation conversation is loud. And most importantly, there are valid, serious concerns about the…

“Go Public”
Allaire published an appeal titled Take the Leap, Anthropic, urging the developer of Claude not to delay the IPO due to AI safety concerns and market instability.
According to the Circle CEO, the public market can serve as an additional oversight mechanism for Anthropic. He noted that after Circle went public on the NYSE, the company faced stricter requirements for financial disclosure, corporate governance, and internal controls.
“Public market discipline turned new technology into understandable infrastructure,” Allaire wrote, linking the transparency of public companies to trust from banks, governments, and large corporate clients.
IPO Is Not a Substitute for Regulation
Allaire emphasized that going public alone is not enough. In his view, public reporting and government regulation should complement each other.
He cited the stablecoin market and the U.S. GENIUS Act as examples, which he believes have created a regulatory framework for such instruments in the financial system.
For AI, Allaire argues, a similar approach is needed: companies should voluntarily adopt higher transparency standards, while the government should establish clear rules for the technology’s operation.
“Now Is the Time”
According to the Circle CEO, leading AI companies are already becoming critical infrastructure for the global economy. Therefore, public interest extends beyond their financial performance to include safety measures, computing power expenses, revenue structure, and corporate governance.
“The best response is not a press release. It’s an S-1 form, a stock ticker, and the accountability that comes with them,” Allaire stated.
Earlier, as part of its initiative to mitigate AI safety risks, Anthropic engaged Accenture as an independent evaluator of advanced models with access equivalent to that of its own employees.
